If you’ve been told you need a crown, you might be picturing something that looks fake or feels bulky. Maybe you’re worried about the process being uncomfortable, or you’re dreading multiple appointments and weeks of wearing a temporary.

At Creekside Park Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, dental crowns are among the most common and refined restorative procedures we do. Dr. Chris Anton and Dr. Angela Anton have placed thousands of crowns over their combined 40+ years of experience. They’ve honed their technique to be precise, gentle, and surprisingly efficient.

And thanks to our CEREC technology, we can often complete your crown in just one appointment. No temporary or weeks of waiting.

Whether you’re protecting a tooth after a root canal, restoring one that’s cracked or worn down, or simply wanting to cover a discolored tooth for a more uniform smile, we’re here to make the process simple and the results beautiful.

When Is a Crown the Right Choice?

Think of a crown as a custom-made “helmet” for your tooth. It fully encases the visible portion, protecting what’s underneath while restoring the tooth’s natural shape and function. We typically recommend crowns for:

  • Teeth with large fillings that are at risk of fracturing
  • Cracked or weakened teeth that need reinforcement
  • After root canal therapy, since root canal-treated teeth become more brittle over time
  • Severely worn-down teeth from grinding, acid erosion, or age
  • Covering a dental implant to complete the restoration
  • Cosmetic enhancement for a tooth that’s severely discolored or misshapen

The goal is always to preserve your natural tooth whenever possible. We’ll give you back a smile that feels strong, functions properly, and looks completely natural.

The Creekside Park Difference: Same-Day Crowns with CEREC

We remember what crowns used to be like. The process involved messy, goopy impressions that made you gag. You had to wear a fragile temporary crown that sometimes popped off at the worst possible moment. Finally, you endured two to three weeks of waiting, all while hoping the permanent crown would fit properly.

That’s why we invested in CEREC technology. Here’s what your experience will actually look like.

Your Same-Day Crown Appointment

We start by listening. Dr. Chris or Dr. Angela will examine your tooth, take a digital X-ray, and discuss your concerns with you. Do you have sensitivity? Are you worried about the appearance? Is there discomfort? We want to understand the full picture before any treatment begins.

Next, if you approve the plan, comes the preparation, impressions, design, and final fit.

  1. Precise Preparation: The tooth is gently shaped to make room for your crown. This sounds more intimidating than it is, but most patients compare it to a routine filling. We use plenty of numbing and work at a pace that keeps you comfortable.
  2. Digital Impressions: Instead of that tray full of impression goop, we use a small wand to scan your tooth. It takes about 60 seconds, and it’s completely comfortable. The digital scan is accurate down to 25 microns, which is far more precise than traditional impressions.
  3. Design and Fabrication: While you relax, Dr. Anton designs your crown on a screen. We choose a shade that perfectly matches your natural teeth. Then, a block of high-strength ceramic is milled right in our office. The whole process takes about 60 to 90 minutes. You’re welcome to read, catch up on emails, or just sit back.
  4. Perfect Fit and Placement: We check the fit, make any micro-adjustments, and bond your new crown into place. You leave with a fully restored tooth the same day you visited for an exam.

Why Our Patients Love Their Crowns

  • One and done: Most crowns are completed in a single appointment. Show up with a damaged tooth, leave with it restored.
  • No temporary crowns: Temporaries can be uncomfortable, prone to falling off, and frankly, they don’t look great. With same-day crowns, you skip them entirely.
  • Natural appearance: Our ceramic crowns are metal-free and translucent, just like natural enamel. They blend in so well that most people won’t know which tooth is crowned.
  • Strength that lasts: These aren’t the fragile crowns of decades past. Modern ceramics are incredibly durable. With good oral hygiene, your crown can last 15 years or more.
  • Fewer tooth removals: Because we use high-strength materials and digital precision, we can preserve more of your natural tooth structure than traditional methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does getting a crown hurt?

We numb the area thoroughly before starting, so you shouldn’t feel any pain during the procedure. Some patients report mild soreness afterward, similar to a filling, but it typically resolves within a day or two.

How long do dental crowns last?

With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, crowns commonly last 10 to 15 years, and sometimes longer. We use high-quality materials and precise fitting to maximize longevity.

Are crowns covered by insurance?

Most dental insurance plans cover a portion of the cost of crowns, especially when they’re needed for restorative reasons. Our team can help you understand your benefits before treatment begins.

Will my crown look natural?

Absolutely. This is where experience matters. Dr. Chris and Dr. Angela are both Fellows in the Academy of General Dentistry. It’s a designation that requires hundreds of hours of advanced training in restorative techniques. They understand how to match shape, contour, and translucency so your crown blends seamlessly with your smile.

Can you fix a crown that’s come loose or fallen out?

Yes. If you have an existing crown that’s loose or has fallen out, call us right away. In many cases, we can recement it. If the tooth underneath has decayed, we may need to discuss a new crown.
